Demolition of Blackhall Court in Blackford is now underway with sister tower block, Ardgowan Court to follow. The Tower blocks, earmarked for closure by Renfrewshire Council,  were opened in 1960 and were finally vacated in late 2007.

Paisley Museum is hosting an exhibition entitled “Celebrity - Up Close and Personal”  featuring clothes and jewellery from some of the world’s stars - past and present.

Among the exhibits are a dress worn by Marilyn Monroe and a pair of cufflinks and tiepin owned by Liberace. From the more modern era is a drum from Oasis, Austin Power’s outfit and Gerri Halliwells white platform boots

The exhibition is on now until 15th June.

Paisley Museum & Art Galleries is also hosting the 120th Paisley Art Institute Exhibition from now until the 31st May 2008 featuring paintings and sculptures from artists around Britain.

Saturday 15th September 2007 was the feast of St Mirin, and what better tribute to the patron Saint of Paisley than to unveil a new statue to him.

Saturday 8th September & Sunday 9th September was the dates for the annual Doors Open Day in Renfrewshire.

On Saturday doors were open in Paisley,Renfrew,Bishopton,Inchinnan and Erskine, and on Sunday it was the turn of Johnstone,Elderslie,Kilbarchan,Houston, Howwood and Lochwinnoch.

This was your once-a-year chance to see behind closed doors so get ready to be amazed at Renfrewshire’s hidden wonders.

Sunday, 26th August 2007 seen the annual Paisley 10k race through the streets of Paisley. Over eight hundred runners tok part in the main event, with many more taking part in the 3k fun run. The main event was started by new Provost, Celia Lawson who praised the first class organisation of the race. The race was won by Robert Gilroy, and in second place for the second year running was Allan Adams. The first lady home was Jill Knowles, followed by Leanne Hamilton. Click here for more pictures.
