Renfrew

Renfrew was created a Royal Burgh between 1124 and 1127. Walter Fitzalan, as well as being responsible for the creation of the Monestary in Paisley, was created the first Baron of Renfrew; a title which in 1404 was conferred on the heir to the throne - Prince Charles is the 29th Baron of Renfrew.

Renfrew was famous for its shipyards, and many of its fine buildings were commissioned by the wealthy shipyard owners.

Currently undergoing a radical makeover to compete with the likes of Braehead the future is perhaps looking a little rosier for the town than it did just a few short years ago.
